What problem does your solution solve?
RAISE seeks to bridge the opportunity gap in student education by providing students K-12 with free arts education. The opportunity gap in the arts is a major problem in the field of education, and those who are left behind are deprived of valuable benefits of art education. These benefits include improved standardized testing scores, increased emotional IQ, and improved grades.
What’s the market potential for your solution?
We recently completed our first 6-week arts program at Lowell Elementary School in East San Jose, CA. Lowell currently has an 86.8% socioeconomically disadvantaged population. We had an immediate overwhelming response from our target population; we had around 50 people sign up for 30 available spots. Additionally, we had about 30 volunteers sign up from various high schools. We are extremely excited about the positive improvement we are seeing in so many children's lives! All the kids are enthusiastic and love learning about art and music.
Who are your customers?
Our customer base consists of K - 12 schools that have high percentages of socioeconomically disadvantaged students.
How will you reach your customers?
We reach our customers through our website, social media, email, and through contact with school officials.
How will you make money?
RAISE makes money from grants and public funding. Since it is a nonprofit, funding stems mainly from philanthropic donors.
What kind of partners will you need to make, support and distribute your solution?
We would like to partner with art supplies organizations that are willing to supply us with materials for our 6-week arts program sessions.
What will your expenses include?
Our expenses include art supplies (markers, crayons, colored pencils, paper, paint, canvas, etc.), office materials (name tags, pens, folders, etc.), and rewards for participants (candy, art supplies, small toys, etc.).
Who is your competition and how do you differ?
Our competition is conventional arts educators who charge premium fees for their lessons. They are able to provide one-on-one lessons to students, but they charge exorbitant prices per hour. Unlike our competitors, we are a completely free program that provides quality education directly at students’ schools. We are a no-cost arts education opportunity for students.
