About Nicole

I'm currently a junior at Lincoln High School, Costa Rica laying strong foundations to prepare myself for my college experience. I participates actively in school and my community as a leader, community server, student and friend. Some highlights of my experiences: I have always takes the most challenging courses offered by my high school’s International Baccalaureate program including high level Math, high level Economics and the high level ITGS (Informational Technology in a Global Society) course. In college, I plan to double major in computer science and mathematics with a focus on entrepreneurship. In freshman year I founded an NGO called Youth in Motion, which organizes extracurricular activities for children in the Guachipelin Public School who come from underprivileged homes. In sophomore year, I founded Fresquiticos, a social business that creates natural healthy and non-artificial sodas, with Costa Rican flavors. Besides tackling health issues, this business helps underprivileged communities in Costa Rica by providing employment and buying fruits from local farmers. In summary, I have always strived to achieve every inspiration that I am passionate about and challenged myself to exceed in fulfilling every goal I have set out for myself.

Nicole's Ideas

Zeal

I introduce Zeal: A global community service social network that will have several utilities that reduce the difficulties in the community service area. Any person can use Zeal to find a project according his/her passions and interests, easily contact the project manager and showcase (and share) his achievements (amount of hours) in his profile. Organizers can use the app to find volunteers, solicit donations, contact students/adults interested in the project and posting important information regarding the project. Zeal will operate as a non-profit organization. I will work with Rustic Pathways, Lincoln School’s service department and other school’s community service departments. By aligning with Rustic Pathways, an organization that has community service projects all over the world, the app is most likely to be funded, maintained and promoted in the long-term. We plan to start off at Lincoln School, spread it to the rest of Costa Rica and finally increase the app coverage globally.
